Gerwyn Price and Luke Humphries contested the Night 12 final

Gerwyn Price will face Luke Humphries as Premier League Darts heads to Birmingham for Night 13.

Price, from Markham, beat world number one Humphries in last week’s final in Liverpool – and he will be hoping for a repeat of that on Thursday May 1 as he looks to boost his play-off hopes.

Price’s victory in Liverpool was his third Premier League night win of the year, with other victories coming in Dublin and Nottingham.

He goes to Birmingham third in the standings, while Humphries is six points ahead in second.

Price has a three-point lead over Nathan Aspinall and Michael van Gerwen, who are fourth and fifth respectively.

With just four nights remaining before the play-offs, Price will be eager to get more points on the board and secure his place at the London showpiece later this month.

“I just want to make the top four,” insisted Price

“It doesn’t matter if I’m first, second, third or fourth, as long as I’m at The O2 in a few weeks. That’s my priority.

How do the play-offs work?

Ranking points are awarded per night – with five to the winner, three to the runner-up and two to the semi-finalists – to form the league table from which the top four players will progress to the play-offs.

The play-offs will be played at The O2 in London on Thursday May 29, with two semi-finals and a final – with the winner crowned Premier League Darts champion.

“The win in Liverpool eases the pressure on me going into this week, and when there’s no pressure on me, I’ll play some good darts.

“When I’m on my game, I am the best in the world. If I play my A-game, nobody will beat me, and I think they know that.”

However, Humphries will have a target of his own going into Birmingham. If he wins the event, he could potentially claim top spot off current leader Luke Littler.

In the other quarter-final matchups, Littler takes on Stephen Bunting, while Aspinall faces Chris Dobey.

The other quarter-final fixture will be contested by Van Gerwen and Rob Cross, with the winner of that tie meeting Price or Humphries in the semi-finals.
