Gerwyn Price was presented with a custom-made set of solid gold darts – his second of the campaign

Markham’s Gerwyn Price landed his second nine-dart finish of the Premier League Darts campaign as the competition entered its penultimate league round.

Price secured his play-off spot in Leeds last week, so went into Night 15 in Aberdeen with the pressure off.

But, despite the nine-darter, he suffered a first round exit to Stephen Bunting on Thursday May 15.

However, the perfect finish was enough to win Price a a custom-made set of solid gold darts worth £30,000.

Price told tournament sponsors BetMGM: “Another loss with a nine-darter, so it’s bittersweet. I’m happy to hit it but I had chances in that game to win as well – it would have been a bit better if I won the match as well.

“Yeah I’ll aim to get another one [nine-darter] next week as well, then I’ll get one in London too. It’ll be well worth playing in this BetMGM Premier League then won’t it?”

The night was eventually won by Nathan Aspinall, who put himself in the driving seat to secure the last remaining play-off spot.

How do the play-offs work?

Ranking points are awarded per night – with five to the winner, three to the runner-up and two to the semi-finalists – to form the league table from which the top four players will progress to the play-offs.

The play-offs will be played at The O2 in London on Thursday May 29, with two semi-finals and a final – with the winner crowned Premier League Darts champion.

The final league round of this year’s Premier League Darts campaign will be played in Sheffield next Thursday. Price will face Chris Dobey in the opening round there.

The play-offs will then take place at London’s O2 Arena a week later on Thursday May 29, where Price will be joined by Luke Littler, Luke Humphries, and one of Aspinall or Michael van Gerwen.
