With the sun shining for most, there was plenty of action across the South East Wales Cricket League on Saturday June 14.
In Division Two, Newbridge were looking for only their third win of the season at home to St Fagans.
The visitors opened the batting and set a score of 215 for the hosts to chase. Newbridge didn’t really get close, with St Fagans eventually winning by 60 runs.
There was an all Caerphilly-clash in Division Three as Crumlin played host to Blackwood Town, with Crumlin desperate to secure their second win of the season.
It wasn’t to be though, with the visitors winning by 38 runs. Blackwood now sit third in the league while Crumlin remain bottom.
Elsewhere in the division and Machen were in action at home to Creigiau. Machen batted first and set a pretty low total of 134 for the hosts to hunt down, which they managed with five wickets to spare.
Machen sit eighth of ten with two wins.
In Division Four, Pontymister and Crosskeys played an impressive game against Lisvane, eventually winning by 47 runs and moving up the table into third, just five points off second.
Abercarn celebrated one of the easiest wins they’re ever likely to after hosts Llantwit Fadre posted a score of just 91 – all out after 32 overs.
The visitors made lightwork of the chase, winning by ten wickets to move into sixth.
There was more good news for borough sides in Division Ten, as Cefn Fforest and Maesycwmmer took a narrow victory over promotion-chasing Cardiff’s fourths.
Opening the batting, Cefn Fforest set a total of 137 for Cardiff to chase. The visitors came close, but fell 18 runs short. The hosts move up into eighth.
