Action continued in the South East Wales Cricket League on Saturday July 19

The South East Wales Cricket League was back this weekend, despite the damp weather.

Starting in Division Two, Newbridge were edged out in a close match away to Radyr seconds.

After winning the toss, the visitors batted first, reaching 194-9 in their allotted overs.

In reply, Radyr seemed to be cruising to their target, but then fell from 118-2 to 182-9, setting up a nervy finish.

The home side scored the winning runs with one over to spare to earn a one-wicket victory.

The loss leaves Newbridge eighth in the table.

Meanwhile, Blackwood Town picked up another victory in Division Three, away to Llandaff seconds.

Sent in to bat first, Blackwood picked up 252 runs in their 45 overs, for six wickets.

The visitors then bowled out Llandaff for 228, to seal a 24-run win and remain third in the table, 11 points off leaders Usk.

Elsewhere in the division, Machen were beaten at home by Brecon firsts.

After scoring 183 all out, the hosts fell to a seven-wicket loss as Brecon romped home within 31 overs.

Machen sit seventh in the Division Three standings.

Bottom of the table Crumlin succumbed to a tenth loss of the season, away to Barry Athletic firsts.

Crumlin sent their hosts in to bat first, and bowled them out for 224.

Their run chase fell well short, however, with Crumlin managing just 79 all out.

Pontymister and Crosskeys secured a two-run victory away to Monkswood to leave them third in Division Four, and a point off second.

The visitors elected to field first, and restricted Monkswood to 177-8.

In reply, Pontymister and Crosskeys scored 181-8 to chase down their total inside 40 overs.

In Division Seven, Abercarn lost by 136 runs against TAW CC.

After bowling out the hosts for 281, Abercarn were limited to 145-9 within their allotted overs.

They remain seventh in the table.

And finally, Cefn Fforest and Maesycwmmer suffered a six-wicket defeat in Division Ten, and remain ninth in the table after losing away to Penarth.

The visitors batted first, scoring 183 all out, but were unable to prevent their hosts racing to their target, for the loss of four wickets, inside 33 overs.
