A Coleg Gwent Crosskeys Campus student has returned from the Rugby World Cup where he made his début for the Wales Under 20s team.

Eighteen year old Jamie Sollis, from Caerphilly, spent two weeks in Italy where he played against teams from across the world including Ireland, Fiji, Italy and New Zealand.

The hooker, who also plays for Crosskeys RFC and recently secured a development contract with Newport Gwent Dragons, returned to south Wales briefly before setting off on a rugby tour of Hong Kong and New Zealand with the Coleg Gwent Crosskeys Campus squad.

Jamie has recently finished a BTEC National Diploma in Sport and has played as part of the Newport Gwent Dragons Junior Academy based at Crosskeys Campus. In September will study sports development at Glamorgan University in September.

He said: “I was speechless when I found out I’d been selected for Wales, it’s been fantastic.

“My education at Coleg Gwent has helped me to develop as a player, and given me a broad depth of experience, skills and knowledge.”
