Wales’ record try scorer Shane Williams should be back in action for the autumn tests after undergoing shoulder surgery.
The British & Irish Lions hero, who scored two tries in the Lions’ third test win over the Springboks in the summer, had the operation last week.
Ospreys physio Chris Towers said: “It was a routine procedure that had been pre-planned to coincide with his return from the Lions tour.
“By the time Shane reports for pre-season training in August, he will already be four weeks post op, and apart from not being able to take contact and lift heavy upper body weights initially, there will be little impact on his pre-season preparations.
“A further four to six weeks should see him back to full training and available for selection, along with his Lions team-mates as per schedule.”
Ospreys start their Magners League season against Connacht on Friday September 4 before facing Leicester Tigers away in the Heineken Cup on October 11.
