Football: AFC Caerphilly 2 Nelson Cavaliers 1

Sport | Richard Gurner | Published: 14:21, Monday September 23rd, 2013.

FOOTBALL: Nelson started this game September 14 on the front foot and were quickly into their stride playing crisp neat football deservedly taking the lead through Dan Lewis.

The hosts began to get a foothold in the game and started to apply some pressure, the equalizer coming midway through the half when an under hit back pass left the Nelson keeper stranded as Caerphilly levelled the score 1-1 at half time.
Nelson began the second half slowly but then began to dominate and created a handful of chances – all of which were wasted.

With ten minutes left Caerphilly took advantage of more hesitant defending with their first shot of the second half which gave Caerphilly a lead. Nelson responded with some quick substitutions which failed to inspire the attack.
Some good saves from the Caerphilly keeper and some poor finishing from the Nelson strike force kept the score at 2-1 at the whistle.
