Newbridge boxer Bradley Pryce to fight in Denmark

Sport | Richard Gurner | Published: 12:20, Friday October 18th, 2013.

Bradley ‘Sugar Sweet’ Pryce will box abroad for the first time in his 47 fight career next week when he travels to Denmark to face the undefeated Torben Keller.

The pair are set to clash in a ten round light-middleweight contest at the Kolding-Hallen Indoor Sports Arena on a Sauerland Promotions show on Saturday October 19.

The 32-year-old Welshman isn’t a stranger to winning on the road in the away corner, having beaten Michael Lomax in London in his last bout, and he’ll have to produce that form again against 26-year-old Keller.

Newbridge’s Pryce said: “I was over the moon when we got the call and now it’s all about putting in a performance that reflects the hard work we’ve put in at the gym.

“I’ve stayed on it and I was supposed to be boxing last Monday, so the groundwork is down and cemented, we’re just sharpening the tools until fight night now.”

“I’ve had a little look at Keller and he’s okay, I think he does a bit of everything well but he doesn’t really do anything spectacular.

“There are ways I can beat him on both the back foot, the front foot and in-between.

“We’ve got a game plan for all options, we need to be smart and sharp on the outside and inside.”
It took Pryce’s trainer and manager Jamie Arthur just two weeks to find his boxer a bout after a challenge for the vacant WBO European light-middleweight title fell through.

Arthur has found it difficult to find fights for Pryce in recent months and he’s thankful that Keller has stepped up.
Arthur, who is based in Rhydyfellin, said: “It’s been very hard to get Bradley matched because he’s seen as very little reward for quite a big risk, that’s why we’ve got a lot of respect for Keller.

“Bradley is by far Keller’s toughest opponent of his career and he’s going to have to do something he hasn’t yet showed he can do to beat Bradley.

“Bradley has seen just about everything in a boxing ring, whereas Keller is new to professional boxing and there’s a lot left to learn.

“That’s why we were surprised to get the opportunity and we’ll make the most of it.
“Bradley will show that he’s a level above and he’s not coming to lose.”
