Football: Caerphilly too strong for Nelson Cavaliers

Sport | Richard Gurner | Published: 10:00, Tuesday December 17th, 2013.

FOOTBALL: It was another poor defeat for the Cavaliers on Sunday November 30 as Caerphilly took a 1-0 win.

The Cavaliers missed several gilt-edged chances as they lost their second game on the bounce.

Caerphilly started the game bright but Nelson slowly worked their way in to the game as a pretty even first half stayed goalless.

Caerphilly created the better chances but were unable to convert them. Cavaliers, despite their effort did not trouble the Caerphilly keeper in the first half, the score at half time 0-0.

Caerphilly began the second half the better and were awarded a penalty, which was brilliantly saved by Man of the Match Matthew Farr.

Caerphilly continued to dominate the centre midfield battle and chances kept coming.

Nelson then gave away a needless corner and were punished with a far post header giving the visitors the lead.
Nelson started a fight back and started to gain the upper hand for the rest of the game and had several chances, but were wasted due to poor finishing and some fine saves by the Caerphilly keeper.

Final Score 1-0.
