Bedwas will rue poor execution of a number of try scoring opportunities after losing out by one score to Camarthen Quins in the Principality Welsh Premiership on February 22.
Bedwas started well with the wind and gained territory in the home 22 only for possession to be surrendered on their own throw into the lineout.
Carmarthen defended well and looked dangerous with ball in hand but they too made mistakes at the crucial moment.
The home side took the lead against the run of play halfway through the half when number 8 Luke Joseph crossed for a good try only for Craig Evans to miss the conversion.
Bedwas hit back through two Kris Burton penalties but couldn’t extend their lead despite Matthew Pettit making a good break deep in the Quin’s half.
Burton added a third penalty just before the half time whistle to see Bedwas nine points to five ahead at the break.
The visitors came out strong in the second half with Rory Budina making a break down the right, but his pass to put Rhys Hutcherson in for a try did not go to hand.
Hutcherson himself made a fine break shortly afterwards but again there was no points gained as a result.
A Craig Evans penalty after 48 minutes pulled Carmarthen back to within a point before Burton missed a kickable penalty chance.
Evans did not miss with eight minutes left to put the home side two points ahead.
Bedwas laid siege on the home line in the final minutes but they could not find a way through the home defence.
Quins gave away a penalty in the dying seconds but Burton’s kick twenty metres out to the left of the posts went wide and the referee blew the final whistle.
Next Sunday (2nd March) Bedwas travel to Llanelli’s Parc y Scarlets ground for a 2-30pm kick off.
