Nelson produced a spirited performance against their local rivals to progress into the semi-finals of the Bernard Martin Cup on March 29.
Nelson opened the scoring after two minutes when Dan Lewis was fouled in the area and Ben Banks calmly slotted the ball home from the penalty spot.
The game ebbed and flowed but Nelson doubled their lead after twenty minutes when Tom Woods’ pot shot curled into the top corner of the net.
Cascade renewed their effort but Nelson went further ahead against the run of play when Hayden Pitt calmly rounded the keeper to fire into the empty net.
Cascade began the second half determined to get back into the game and got an immediate reward with a penalty two minutes into the second half following a handball.
Their striker calmly slotted the spot kick into the net, cutting the deficit to two goals.
The Cavaliers weren’t going to buckle and dug deep to stop Cascade getting back into the game.
But Cascade could not break down the defence and with a minute of stoppage time remaining Nelson killed the game off when sub Ryan Donovan scored.
