Sport | | Published: 09:57, Wednesday May 7th, 2014.

Blackwood RFC will host its first ever professional rugby league match on Sunday May 11 when South Wales Scorpions Host Hunslet Hawks.

The Scorpions currently sit bottom of Championship 1 and will be hoping to win their first points against top-of-the-table Hunslet.

Blackwood RFC are hoping for a good turn out from the local community to support the team.

Roger Moore, Blackwood RFC Chairman, said: “It’s an honour for Blackwood to be hosting this South Wales Scorpions game against such an established name as Hunslet Hawks.

“We’ve hosted Wales Rugby League fixtures in the past and we are very much looking forward to this game.”

The game kicks off at Glan yr Afon Park at 2pm and will be preceded by Wales Rugby League’s Scott McRorie Nines Tournament from 10am.
