Caerphilly County Borough schools reached the final of the Welsh Schools FA Inter Area 2013/14 competition.

Caerphilly Schools Football Under 14s beat Wrexham Schools at University Playing Fields in Llanrumney, Cardiff, securing them a place in the final.

Both teams battled hard in difficult, windy conditions, but goals from Jack Fox and two from Callum Evans were enough to help Caerphilly claim a 3-1 victory.

The team will face Swansea Schools in the final on May 17 at Park Hall in Oswestry, home of Welsh Premier League Champions The New Saints FC.

Cllr David Poole, Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Community & Leisure Services, said: “This is an exceptional achievement and the players should be extremely proud of themselves. The whole of the county borough will be wishing the team luck for their cup final.”
