Kody Davies out of Commonwealth Games as Lauren Price prepares for opening fight

Pontllanfraith boxer Kody Davies is out of the Commonwealth Games after losing his first fight in Glasgow last nigh, July 27.

The heavyweight Welsh amateur champion lost to Scotland’s Stephen Lavelle with a unanimous points decision of three rounds to zero.

Davies, 20, had a tough time against the three-time Scottish champion and apologised to his fans on twitter after the fight.

He tweeted: “Sorry to everyone I let down. Had a tough opponent and I guess the occasion got to me. No excuses. The support was amazing, means loads!!!”

Lauren price, 20, begins her campaign for a medal in the Women’s middleweight category tomorrow, July 29, at 7.40pm.

The Bargoed boxer, who fights out of Gelligaer Amateur Boxing Club, faces Theresa London from Guyana who has a slight height and weight advantage.
