Mini Rugby: Oakdale juniors edge out Ynysddu

Sport | | Published: 17:00, Thursday October 30th, 2014.

Oakdale under nines beat Ynysddu by eight tries to four on October 26, in a game of depleted numbers due to half-term and illness.

Oakdale’s defence was strong from the off and Thomas Gregory pounced on a loose ball, off-loading to William Morgan who ran the full length of the pitch to release Jordan Way to claim the first try.

Some great passing and persistence from Ynysddu resulted in an equalising try before confusion in defence saw them take the lead.

Gregory used his signature side stepping run to equalise straight from the whistle and the scores remained level at the break.

Oakdale restarted and from the whistle Gabriel Jones took the ball and only had the try line in mind, taking the lead before William Morgan picked up a loose ball and ducked and dodged the defence to cross the whitewash and make it 4-2. .

Ynysddu came back with a quick try but Dale restarted with Oliver passing to William Davey, who passed to William Morgan in support to score and restore the two point lead.

Ynysddu’s wing scored to narrow the gap before Gregory swerved through the defence for another quick try, followed soon after by his hat-trick. Max Rossiter scored the final try.
