Nelson Cavaliers bounced back from their recent Greyhound Cup defeat to secure a semi-final spot in the Bernard Martin Cup, beating Hopkinstown 2-1 away on December 6.
Nelson missed a few opportunities early on, including a penalty that was saved by the home keeper.
Hopkinstown then hit Nelson on the break with a goal following a header which hit the bar before it was stabbed home after slack marking in the defence.
Nelson hit back to level before the break. The ball fell to Lewis Roberts in the area and he placed it neatly in the corner of the net.
Nelson dominated the second-half and continued to waste chances. The hosts threatened now and again, with their best chance a header that was cleared off the line from Dan Falconer.
The winner came in the 86th minute when a quick move ended up with the ball being laid back to Dan Lewis who made no mistake from six yards.
