Rhymney schools take football titles

More than 170 pupils from across Caerphilly County Borough took part in a girls’ football tournament at Heolddu Comprehensive School in Bargoed.

Rhymney Comprehensive school won the Year 9 and Year 10 competition, beating nine other teams.

The Year 7 and Year 8 competition was won by Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhymni who fended off eight teams for the title.

The tournament was organised by Sport Caerphilly and was supported by Coleg y Cymoedd.

Councillor David Poole Caerphilly County Borough Council’s head of leisure, said: “Congratulations to each and every one of the participants who took part in the CSSA Girls Football Competition. You all played brilliantly.”
