VOLUNTEERS: Club members with their sport leader certificates

Rhymney Valley Athletic Club have celebrated their first anniversary since relaunching.

The restructure in 2014 has seen the club’s junior membership grow from 22 to 138, with coaching staff rising from two to 24.

On May 7, volunteers at the club were presented with sport leader certificates by Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Sports Development Manager Jared Lougher.

Each coach also has a UKCC Athletics sports coach qualification, funded through Community Chest and Thriving Clubs.

The club has created a coaching pathway, training up young volunteers as sport leaders through Sport Caerphilly. This gives their young leaders qualifications and rewards for volunteering within the club.
