EMPHATIC: James Dixon breaks for Cross Keys in their 50-13 victory over Bedwas

A dominant performance by the Cross Keys laid the foundations for an emphatic 50-18 win for the visitors as Bedwas crashed to defeat on September 19 in the Principality Premiership.

Keys took the lead after two minutes and didn’t look back. A clearing penalty kick to the corner saw the line out secured and Scott Matthews driven over for an unconverted try.

Bedwas hit back via a Richard Powell penalty followed by a try from Mathew John following a good passing through both forwards and backs. Powell added the extras.

However, four minutes later after Andrews’ drive was stopped just short of the line by some good defensive play, Powell powered over for the visitors’ second try – converted by Davies.

Keys extended their lead in the 32nd minute and this time Andrews wasn’t going to be denied, picking the ball up and dancing his away past a couple of attempted challengers to the line with Davies converting.

And the bonus point was secured less than a minute later after some good work by outside half Josh Prosser who offloaded to Davies for an easy dart home, before once again adding the extras.

Just before half time another quick Keys breakaway put the game effectively beyond Bedwas as Ethan Davies added his sides’ fifth try, his conversion putting Keys 36 points to 10 ahead.

Bedwas made a mass of substitutions at the start of the second half but had given themselves far too much to do. The cause was not aided by a sin bin for Brynley Toms for a line out offence, but Bedwas pulled a try back on 64 minutes through replacement wing Andy Evans. Powell converted.

Keys were in no mood to surrender and late scores by Garrett and Lampard secured an emphatic win for the visitors.
