Caerphilly-born Aaron Ramsey celebrated making history with Wales with a man of the match performance against Andorra on October 13.
Ramsey scored the first goal in Wales’ 2-0 victory in the final Euro 2016 match a at Cardiff City Stadium.
Wales had already qualified for their first major tournament since 1958, despite losing 2-0 to Bosnia-Herzegovina on October 10.
Needing just a point in their last two games, Wales qualified thanks to a shock Cyprus win over Israel.
After the Bosnia game, Ramsey, who attended Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Cwm Rhymni, joked that the players celebrated with a shandy, but the bubbly was flowing freely after the victory in Cardiff.
Speaking to FAW TV after the game, Ramsey said he was “over the moon” to get a goal, adding that it was a “great night”.
He said: “We knew we were already through so we wanted to make an atmosphere here where we could all celebrate together and I think we achieved that.
“We wanted to show our appreciation to the fans up and down the country, they’ve been absolutely fantastic.
“They definitely got us over the line in some games so we appreciate what they’ve done and hopefully they’ll follow us in numbers over in France as well.”
Wales will find out who they play in the Euro 2016 finals in France when the draw is made on December 12.
They will be bottom seeds due to their UEFA ranking, despite being eighth in the world, above England, in the FIFA rankings.
But Ramsey remains “optimistic” for the competition.
He said: “It’s going to be tough but we’re all looking forward to it and we could have a special finals.”
