The Crumlin-based Valleys Gymnastics Academy were the only Welsh team to take part in a Gymnastique Magique event at Disneyland Paris on October 10-11.

The team, ranging from the ages of seven to 19, was led by coach Zoe Roberts and manager Dawn Jarman.

In the Senior Duo competition, Georgia Hewitt and Naomi Jarman claimed gold after performing an outstanding lyrical routine.

This was followed by Libby Cullen claiming second place in the Baby Stars Solo category, with Mali Fflur Lane coming in a close third.

The Junior Group of rhythmic gymnasts, comprising of Grace Morgan, Mali Fflur Lane, Emily Cullen, Sophie Cullen, Seren Hughes, Rosie Martin, Lauryn Carpenter, Charlotte Hamer and Ruby Bailey then went on to take the silver award.

The event ended on a high for the team in the Senior Group category, where the club’s Alpha Team, competing for the very first time, took a silver medal home for Valleys Gymnastics Academy.

Ms Roberts said: “I am proud of each and every one of the performers. Everyone gave their all and conducted themselves professionally, both in the arena and throughout the trip to Paris.”

Following the competition, the gymnasts were selected to take part in the Disney pre-parade through the Disney Park, due to their outstanding display during the competition.
