Bedwas climbed to eighth in the Principality Premiership after beating Aberavon 12-8 on November 7.
The home side came out firing on all cylinders and Aberavon were lucky to go into the break just 12 points down.
But the Wizards dug deep in the second half and it was thanks to the Bedwas defence that they just held on to secure the victory.
All 20 points were scored by the side playing into a strong wind and driving rain and Bedwas were handicapped by having two forwards yellow-carded in the second half.
Bedwas forwards’ coach Ian Gardner said: “Our defence was splendid and overall we showed good character and really stepped up to the plate. Really we should have had two or three more tries early on but that was a win that we certainly needed.”
Bedwas could have scored in the opening minutes when three forwards were left with scrum half David Pritchard to beat, but his tackle stopped the move.
A similar situation saw Andrew Waite score after seven minutes with Richard Powell converting.
It was one-way traffic with Bedwas hitting holes in the Aberavon defence, and Powell placed a penalty after twenty minutes to make it 10-0. Two minutes later Powell put over a second penalty from 30 metres and Bedwas led 12-0 at the interval.
Bedwas flanker Josh Skinner was sin-binned in the seocnd half and the referee gave a penalty try to Aberavon.
Lock Geraint Edmunds was the second to receive a card but the defence kept Aberavon out and Bedwas claimed victory.
