Rugby League: South Wales Scorpions sign union man Kristian Baller from Pontypool

Sport | | Published: 09:43, Wednesday November 18th, 2015.

Caerphilly-based South Wales Scorpions have signed experienced former Cardiff Blues, Pontypridd and Cross Keys rugby union winger Kristian Baller from Pontypool.

The 28-year-old played for the Blues region in 2010 while on the books of Welsh Premiership club Pontypridd.

He played for Cross Keys for three seasons, his highlight being in 2012 when he helped to beat his old club Pontypridd in the WRU Cup Final.

The week after he played for Keys in the British and Irish Cup Final where they went down to Munster A.

Baller said: “I’ve always loved watching rugby league and the idea of playing has always appealed to me too.

“I just want to compete for a place in the squad week-in-week-out.

With having less rugby league experience than most of the guys there I’m going to have to work that bit extra to make this happen.”
