RUGBY LEAGUE: Caerphilly-based South Wales Scorpions have welcomed back two former players.
Welsh international Chris Davies has come back to the club after several years out through injury. The 23-year old prop, popularly known as “Dog” played for the club in 2011 after coming through the youth ranks in South Wales but a serious injury hampered his chances to continue at the time.
Recently he has played rugby union with Merthyr, helping them to reach a cup final last season.
Davies came through the youth ranks at the old Celtic Crusaders and was a member of their National Youth League winning side in 2009. He also played for their reserve side.
A Wales under 18 international, his lone full cap was in a friendly match against Italy in Wrexham in October 2010, the match where Gareth Thomas also made his Rugby League international début.
Also returning is centre Matty Wilcox, back from Welsh Conference club Cardiff City Rugby League.
Initially joining the Scorpions from Nottingham Outlaws midway through the 2013 season, the 25-year old scored two tries and kicked seven goals in his 19 games. He left to go travelling midway through the 2014 season and then played for Cardiff City RL on his return.
