Rugby Union: Cross Keys hoping for better weather

Sport | | Published: 12:35, Monday January 25th, 2016.

RUGBY UNION: Cross Keys has been one of the teams to suffer most with the recent wet weather.

The Principality Premiership club, currently sitting fourth in the league, has not played a competitive match since the beginning of December, with a 20-18 Premiership victory over Llandovery.

Since then, Keys have had four matches called off – two Premiership matches against Bedwas and Newport and two Foster’s Challenge Cup games against the same opposition.

Even their fixture in the Swalec Cup next month has been affected.

In the second round Cross Keys will either play Beddau or current Swalec Cup holders, Bridgend.
Bridgend and Beddau’s clash had been due to kick-off on January 9, but instead will be played on Tuesday, January 26 to decide who will host Keys on the weekend of February 6.

The Foster’s Challenge Cup fixture at home against Newport, originally due to be played in the middle of December has been rearranged for Tuesday January 26 with kick-off at 7.15pm.

New dates for the postponed Premiership fixtures at home to Newport and Bedwas, that were postponed on Boxing Day and January 2 respectively, have yet to be arranged.

Also yet to be rearranged are dates for the Challenge Cup fixtures against Newport, at Rodney Parade, and Bedwas at Pandy Park.
