Rugby: Bedwas RFC’s venue switch

Sport | | Published: 14:43, Monday February 8th, 2016.

Bedwas RFC’s Foster’s Challenge Cup match against Newport on Wednesday, February 17, has been switched from Rodney Parade to Ystrad Mynach’s Centre of Sporting Excellence because of recent poor weather.

In recent weeks, Bedwas, together with Cross Keys and Newport, have had several matches called-off because of the exceptionally wet conditions.

Kick-off for this match is at 7.30pm.

Meanwhile, Cross Keys’ Challenge Cup clash with Newport on January 26. was also called off because of a waterlogged pitch at Pandy Park.

It had also looked likely that Rugby League’s South Wales Scorpions would move their first friendly against Gloucestershire All Golds this Saturday to Ystrad Mynach’s all-weather pitch.

However a last minute decision has been made by club bosses to keep the game at Caerphilly RFC’s Virginia Park.

Admission for Scorpions’ first friendly cost £5 adults and £3 concessions.
