Saturday May 8 marked 25 years since the first of many football matches was played between sides from Caerphilly and French town Lannion.
The first match was organised after the official twinning between the two towns in February 1991.
Caerphilly Veterans were beaten 5-1 by Lannion Veterans, and the defeat sparked the first of many trips and tightly-contested matches to follow.
To mark the anniversary, surviving members met at Caerphilly Rugby Club to enjoy video highlights of the seminal match.
Organiser Richard Parsons said: “It’s hard to believe where those years have gone. Many of us still play five-a-side together but can’t believe how fit and young we looked in that first-ever game. Friendships were forged in Lannion then that still exist today.
“We have so many great memories of those days.”
