Aberbargoed RFC have secured their promotion from Swalec League 3 East C, clinching the title on the way.

It’s the highest position the club has ever been and the first-team finished on a high with a 54-8 victory over New Panteg at West View Villas on Saturday May 14.

Christ Jenkins, captain, said:: “This league win has been a long time coming for us; the past few years we’ve always just missed out.

“All we wanted to do was win the league this season and we’ve done it. The boys are really committed to this team, we train three times a week and it’s really paid off.”

Head coach Nathan Morris is confident his side can go on to achieve more titles: “The boys we have now are capable of being in the top leagues.

“We’ll definitely be aiming for promotion again next season; we’re going to carry on climbing.”
