Rugby Union: Senghenydd youth sides celebrate success

Sport | | Published: 14:00, Tuesday May 31st, 2016.

The future of Senghenydd rugby looks brighter than ever after Senghenydd RFC Under 8 and Under 11 sides recently celebrated success.

The club’s U11s had a year to remember by going the whole season unbeaten.

Startong at the Aberdare festival, the side won each of their four matches without conceding a try.

That winning mentality was built on during the regular season as the youngsters wrapped up a 20 game unbeaten streak, drawing only twice. They ended the season in the same vein, winning four games at the Caerphilly festival.

When taken into consideration that the Under 11s have not been beaten at home since September 2013, the feat becomes even more impressive.

Meanwhile, Senghenydd Under 8s began the month by winning the Leicester Tigers Challenge 2016 cup.

Victory came in the tournament finale on Sunday May 1, as they ran out unbeaten winners at Butlins, Minehead.
