Cricket: Blackwood’s Daniel Wilkinson hits century in win over Usk

Sport | | Published: 15:18, Friday July 8th, 2016.

With the season in full swing, cricket clubs from across Caerphilly County Borough saw differing results on a weekend of variable weather.

In South East Wales Division 1, Blackwood Town CC 1st XI produced a fine performance to beat Usk CC 219-4 on Saturday July 2 at Highfields.

The hosts finished 220-2, having won the toss and electing to field, as Daniel Wilkinson hit 102 not out with Callum Herring on 69 not out.

In the same division, Newbridge CC 1st XI were unfortunate to lose their clash with Newport Fugitives CC by 33 runs at the Welfare Ground.

Newbridge finished on 207 all out, just behind the Fugitives on 240 all out.

In South East Wales Division 3, Crumlin’s clash with Llantwit Fadre was cancelled, while Machen were comprehensively beaten by Whitchurch-Heath.

The visitors were all out for 85, and it took just three of Whitchurch-Heath’s rank to beat the score.
