A local running club has been recognised for its work and growth by governing body Welsh Athletics.
Caerphilly Runners was established in January last year, and was named development club of the year at Welsh Athletics’ annual awards ceremony at the Hilton Hotel, Cardiff, on Saturday October 8.
Chris Moss, Development Manager at Welsh Athletics, praised the club for its efforts in getting people into the sport.
He said: “Caerphilly Runners is doing great work and the award recognises this. The club is getting great membership growth year-on-year.
“Caerphilly at the moment is a bit of a hot spot for running with lots of groups springing up in the area.”
• Around 75 runners from the club have now raised more than £2,100 for Velindre Cancer Centre after running 11 miles between Caerphilly and Cardiff castles on Wednesday September 7.
