Darts: Caerphilly player aims to keep it in the family

Sport | | Published: 13:05, Thursday March 9th, 2017.

A budding darts player is seeking sponsorship to help him achieve his goal of competing on the biggest stage.

Lloyd Arnold, from Caerphilly, has been playing darts for six years, having followed in the footsteps of his father and grandfather – both avid players.

The 21-year-old plays in a superleague in Bedwas every week, and has competed in tournaments in Bargoed, Rhymney and Swansea, but is looking to take the next step in his career.

Lloyd said: “I go to tournaments to get experience playing in that kind of situation, and of course to try and win.

I’ve earned a bit of money from winning a few tournaments and reaching the semi-finals and quarter-finals, but I’m looking for sponsorship to cover my travel expenses and entry fees.

“I’m always confident. I’ve got plenty of experience playing against better players than me, and I’m hoping to join the Professional Qualifying School in January next year, where a tour card is up for grabs and I’ll be able to play against professionals like Phil Taylor and Michael van Gerwen.

“Any sponsor would get their logo or name on my shirt, and a small cut of my winnings.”

Companies interested in sponsoring Lloyd can email him at lloydsbarnold96@icloud.com.
