A primary school pupil from Penyrheol is travelling to Ireland to compete in the Kickboxing and Karate World Championships.
Seven-year-old Reuben West is one of 12 competitors from the Welsh Contact Karate Association (WCKA) club in Caerphilly to be included in the 25-strong national team, and is the youngest involved.
A Year 2 pupil at Cwm Ifor Primary School in Penyrheol, Reuben has been with WCKA Caerphilly for three years, and was named the WCKA Grand Champion in December last year.
He will now be travelling to Killarney, Ireland, for the World Kickboxing and Karate World Championships at the end of August.
Reuben is set to represent Wales in the -25kg Points Fighting and -25kg Light Contact categories, and has been competing in various British Open competitions in preparation for the Championships.
