Bedwas Trethomas Machen United FC (BTM United) is hosting a community day this bank holiday weekend.

The club, based at the Bryn Fields in Bedwas, will be holding the McDonalds/Football Association of Wales Regional Community Football Day on Sunday August 27 from 11am.

On the day, there will be several events and exhibitions, while a number of first team players from Newport County will be helping out with presentations at the end of the day.

Jason Williams, Vice Chair of BTM Utd, said: “The objective of the day is to create a more general involvement in the game with local children both male and female.

“We will be recruiting new players but the day is all about getting local children involved in grassroots football and having fun at the same time.

“We will also be showcasing a walking football tournament which we hope will get the older generation involved.

“We have loads of fun activities going on such as Beat the keeper, tug of war, tea cups, bouncy castle, mega slide, side stalls, hot and cold refreshments plus loads more.”
