Lauren Williams suffered an agonising loss in the World Taekwondo Grand Prix on Sunday, December 3.
The Blackwood sensation had been hoping to replicate her -67kg success in London with victory at the latest competition in Ivory Coast, but was defeated in the quarter-finals.
In October, Williams defeated Ruth Gbagbi to claim the Grand Prix gold, but the same opponent exacted revenge in her home country.
Gbagbi, the reigning world champion, won 24-21 in Abidjan to put paid to Williams’ hopes of back-to-back tournament wins.
