Rugby Union: Richards named Bedwas’ player of the year

Bedwas RFC back row forward James Richards has been named the club’s Player of the Year.

Richards was also named Bedwas’ Players’ Player of the Year at its annual awards dinner held on Friday, June 1.

Centre Adam Williams won the coaches’ award while supporters’ player of the year was back row forward Andrew Waite.

Brian Howells was awarded clubman of the year for his work maintaining the premises at Bridge Field.

John Peasley was rewarded for his long and valued contribution to Bedwas RFC. Mr Peasley is standing down after many years’ service but ‘retires’ with the best wishes and thanks from everyone at Bedwas RFC.

Scrum V analyst Sean Holley gave an insight into his career with some funny anecdotes before finishing the evening with two well-received songs on his acoustic guitar.

Youth team awards: Players’ Player of the Year Rhodri Griffiths; Coaches’ Player of the Year Scott Gulliford; Player of the Year Alex Kawulok.

Second XV: Players’ Player of the Year Luke Owen; Coaches’ Player of the Year Michael Jones; Player of the Year Rhys Lewis.
