Sport Wales, the body responsible for elite and grassroots sport, has a new chairman.
Lawrence Conway has served as interim chair since 2017 and has now been appointed to the role on a permanent basis.
Mr Conway initially took over after the sacking of Paul Thomas.
Lord Elis-Thomas, the Welsh Government Minister for Culture, Tourism and Sport confirmed the appointment and said: “In his time as interim chair, Lawrence has provided a renewed confidence and a stable platform to the organisation. His appointment will ensure the important work of implementing and embedding the recommendations of the Ministerial Review into Sport Wales continues apace, and with the utmost professionalism and enthusiasm.”
Mr Conway will also be joined by four new board members.
Paul Thomas was sacked as chair in March 2017 with the Welsh Government claiming that there had been an “irretrievable breakdown in relationships within the leadership of the board of Sport Wales”.
