United Welsh tenants living in Caerphilly are invited to participate in a new advice service to manage fuel debts and energy at home.

The ‘Home Energy Advice’ service is a pilot project being led by Warm Wales, working in partnership with organisations across Caerphilly, Ceredigion and Gwynedd with funding from Welsh Government.

As United Welsh is a pilot partner, United Welsh tenants in Caerphilly are invited to benefit from the pilot scheme, which will provide in-depth support to tenants to:

  • Make sure all their benefit entitlements, grants and concessions are claimed
  • Manage fuel debts
  • Reduce energy use while maintaining heating
  • Switch their energy supplier to save money
  • Adopt digital metering and smart technology

Warm Wales Cymru Gynnes work to alleviate fuel poverty in Wales and the South West through community projects and partnership working.

The purpose of the ‘Home Energy Advice’ pilot is to test and measure the effectiveness of providing in-home energy advice and support services to people across Wales in relation to tackling fuel poverty. The evidence gathered will help determine the benefit which can be gained from supporting households to reduce their energy use, thereby saving money.

Julian Pike, Director of Housing and Communities at United Welsh said: “Efficient energy consumption is beneficial for individuals and the wider communities where they live. Homes become more affordable for people to run and carbon emissions are reduced.

“This pilot, led by Warm Wales, is a positive step in tackling fuel poverty in Caerphilly and beyond. United Welsh is pleased to participate to support our tenants and help shape the future of energy advice.”

An estimated 155,000 homes in Wales struggle to afford a safe and warm environment. This project is committed to a holistic approach to energy advice, ensuring people not only save money, but improve their general health and wellbeing.

United Welsh is a not-for-profit organisation providing homes and related services across South Wales.
