22-year-old man arrested after “serious assault”

A 22-year-old man has been arrested following a “serious assault” in Trethomas on Sunday evening.

The attack happened on Navigation Street, with police called at around 9pm.

Police have said the victim, a 34-year-old man, suffered injuries to his arm and chest.

However, a person known to the victim contacted Caerphilly Observer to say the victim suffered injuries to their arm and abdomen.

There have been reports on social media that the victim was stabbed, but this has not been confirmed by Gwent Police.

However, police have confirmed the victim’s injuries are “not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing”.

The suspect, from Trethomas, was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He remains in police custody.
