The cat was said to have been killed on the Hendredenny estate

Police are investigating reports that a group of boys killed a cat by setting three lurcher dogs onto it.

According to social media posts, a group of four boys were seen walking from Tesco Express on the Bowls, Penyrheol, towards the dip garage at around 4.20pm on Sunday, May 22.

They were later seen in the lanes around the Hendredenny housing estate at around 8pm.

It is alleged they encouraged their dogs to attack and kill a cat.

Gwent Police has confirmed it is investigating the incident.

A similar incident is also said to have happened in the Senghenydd and Abertridwr area, although Gwent Police said it was only aware of the Hendredenny attack.

Anyone with information can call Gwent Police 101 or message officers via social media quoting log reference 2200170979.
