Start-up business hub and co-working space Welsh ICE has been awarded for its commitment to providing business support and resources to young people.

Welsh ICE, which is based on Caerphilly Business Park, near Van Road, has received a bronze Quality Mark from the Education Workforce Council (EWC Wales).

The award is given to organisations that show a high level of competence and commitment when it comes to supporting young people in the workplace.

Welsh ICE was marked on criteria such as its approach to creating and delivering training and development programmes, as well as its ability to provide a safe and supportive environment for young people.

Andrew Borsden, EWC Wales’ Development Officer for the Quality Mark, praised Welsh ICE.

He said: “Throughout their assessment, the team at ICE demonstrated their commitment to delivering high quality youth work provision.

“The motivation and enthusiasm of the staff was a pleasure to see – congratulations to everyone involved.”

Tom Phillips, who leads Welsh ICE’s youth training programmes, including the ICE Academy, said: “Our goal is to empower the next generation of entrepreneurs and leaders to succeed, and the bronze Quality Mark from EWC Wales is a testament to our ongoing efforts in this area.”

Welsh ICE community manager, Rachel Harris, said the company was “thrilled” to receive the award and said it “highlights the positive impact” its co-working space and training programmes are having on young people.

She continued: “The bronze Quality Mark is a significant achievement for Welsh ICE.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank our members, partners, and the wider Welsh ICE community for their ongoing support and commitment to our mission.”

Welsh ICE, of which Caerphilly Observer is a member, is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh Government.
