Our publication has been awarded grant funding from Creative Wales to lead on an exciting new journalism project to boost coverage of the Senedd.
We are looking for a full-time reporter, to be employed on a 12-month fixed-term contract, to cover the business of the Senedd – ranging from plenary sessions to committee hearings.
The role will be predominately based at the Senedd in Cardiff for four out of five days, with one day a week at our office in Caerphilly.

The ideal candidate…
- Good writing skills, up-to-date legal knowledge, 100wpm shorthand.
- National Qualification in Journalism (NQJ) (or similar) qualification, or relevant experience as a reporter in a daily news environment and/or working to daily news deadlines is highly desirable. We will also consider applicants who hold the NCTJ diploma or a similar qualification.
- Excellent social media skills.
- Excellent at working under pressure and identifying priorities.
- Be familiar with digital tools and techniques across a range of mobile devices.
- Strong understanding of working and processes within Welsh Government and the Senedd – or a desire to learn.
- Demonstrable experience of delivering great ideas for content.
- Strong contact-building skills.
- Proficiency in taking images, shooting video and gathering audio.
- A driving licence is preferable.
