Rail services on the Rhymney and Ebbw lines are not expected to be impacted by industrial action

Rail services along the Rhymney and Ebbw valley lines are unlikely to be affected by strike action this month, Transport for Wales (TfW) has said.

Members of the RMT Union are set to strike on Thursday July 20, Saturday July 22 and Saturday July 29.

Meanwhile, the train drivers’ union ASLEF has announced a ban on overtime between Monday July 17 and Saturday July 22.

Transport for Wales is not in dispute with either of these unions. However, it has said some of its services are likely to be busier than usual due to reduced timetables put in place by other operators involved in the dispute.

TfW has warned the following routes are expected to be busier while industrial action takes place:

  • Carmarthen – Swansea – Bridgend – Cardiff Central – Newport – Severn Tunnel Junction
  • Gloucester – Cheltenham
  • North Wales – Chester – Crewe – Manchester
  • Shrewsbury – Birmingham International

However, a spokesperson for TfW confirmed to Caerphilly Observer that it expects valley lines services to be unaffected.
