The event was held at Aberbargoed Fire Station

A charity car wash held by firefighters in Aberbargoed raised more than £700 in just one day.

On-call firefighters from South Wales Fire and Rescue Service hosted the event on August 26 and raised £768 for the Fire Fighters’ Charity, DYT Dance and Mind.

The Fire Fighters’ Charity offers lifelong support for members of the UK fire services community.

Mind is a mental health charity in England and Wales, while DYT dance school operates in Caerphilly County Borough and aims to give every child “the chance to dance”.

A spokesperson for South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “We would like to extend our thanks to the community for showing their support during the event and helping us raise such a fantastic amount for the station’s chosen charities.

“We are currently running a recruitment campaign for on-call firefighters across south Wales and would welcome applications from those who want to help their community and boost their income, providing they meet eligibility requirements.”

Visit SWFRS’ website for more information about on-call roles.
