Gwent Police made the arrests on October 26

Four men from Caerphilly County Borough have been arrested following Gwent Police drug raids.

Drugs and mobile phones were seized by police after search warrants were carried out on Thursday October 26.

Two men from Fochriw, aged 21 and 27, were arrested on suspicion of supplying class A drugs.

A 22-year-old man from Brynmawr, Blaenau Gwent, was also arrested on suspicion of supplying class A drugs.

Meanwhile, two Bargoed men, aged 19 and 25, were arrested on suspicion of supplying class B drugs.

According to section 37 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, “supplying”  includes “distributing and does not require proof of payment or reward”.

All five men currently remain in police custody as enquiries continue.

Detective Inspector David Trew, of Gwent Police, said: “Our officers are working relentlessly to crack down on serious and organised crime, including drug supply offences.

“There is no place for illegal drugs in our communities, and these warrants demonstrate our commitment to making Gwent a hostile environment for those intent on causing misery by supplying drugs.”

DI Trew continued: “Officers from our proactive, response and neighbourhood policing teams have worked together to carry out four warrants across the Caerphilly and Blaenau Gwent boroughs.

“Gathering information plays an integral part in informing these operations and our efforts to disrupt supply and the crimes associated to drugs.

“Your reports really do make a difference, so we’d continue to encourage those with concerns about drug offences in their area call us on 101 or 999 in an emergency.

“Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
