Following the backlash to a proposed 20% hike in pitch fees, Caerphilly County Borough Council has announced only senior sides will face the full brunt of the increase.
Every cricket, football, and rugby side will still be paying more to rent pitches and changing rooms however, starting from a 5% increase for juniors, 10% for youth, and 20% for seniors.
This is on top of the 12% increase last April.
As it stands, to rent a pitch and changing rooms costs a senior football or rugby side £54.06 per four-hour slot. This will increase to £64.87 as of April 1.
For a senior cricket match, the cost of renting a pitch and changing rooms for a match will increase from £62.12 to £74.54.
Cllr Chris Morgan, cabinet member for leisure, said the council had “softened” its policy on pitch fees following a public consultation.
