Caerphilly RFC has announced former Fijian rugby star Nikola Matawalu will help coach the side starting from next season.

The 35-year-old earned 41 caps for his country, and will now become backs coach at Caerphilly, while studying rugby coaching and analytics at the University of South Wales.

In an announcement on social media, the National League Two East Central side welcomed Matawalu to the club, with the former Glasgow Warriors man to begin his coaching career later this year.

Matawalu, who lives in Caerphilly according to the club, will bring a “wealth of experience and knowledge”.
