After four delays, Caerphilly town’s new container-style market, Ffos Caerffili, is finally set to open on Friday April 5.
The market had been due to open on March 15, but was postponed due to bad weather.
In an announcement on social media, Ffos Caerffili said the market will open at 9am.
The market will include 28 independent traders and is one of the flagship projects for the council’s Caerphilly 2035 regeneration scheme.
Jamie Pritchard, cabinet member for regeneration, recently revealed Caerphilly Council has effectively saved more than £1 million on the market after receiving a European grant.
Cllr Pritchard, who is also the council’s deputy leader, visited Ffos Caerffili on Thursday March 28 to see the progress.
Ffos Caerffili has encountered a number of challenges, which have now been overcome,” Cllr Pritchard said.
“The facility is nearly ready to open and there is a real sense of anticipation in the town. We are creating a venue where businesses can thrive, right in the heart of the town centre.
“Promoting and developing new business opportunities is absolutely critical and we’re looking forward to opening the doors”.
