Together with the children are community councillors Norma Cabble (Community Council chair), Colin Mann, Nicola Hewer and Gary Enright

Children in Pwllypant now have their own play area to enjoy. Previous play equipment which was installed when the village hall was built had to be removed for safety reasons.

The new area has utilised a small space in Central Street which does not have the noise issues present at the village hall, due to the volume of traffic using Pwllypant roundabout.

Community councillor Nicola Hewer said, “The children are delighted to have their own play area very close to their homes. The area has been very busy ever since it opened.”

The scheme has been funded mainly by Llanbradach and Pwllypant Community Council, in co-operation with Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Cllr Hewer’s predecessor, Cllr Adrian Stone, who represented the area until his untimely death in 2023, campaigned for several years to have a new play area. A memorial bench has been installed in his memory.

“I am sure that Adrian would be delighted to see the completed play area”, said Cllr Hewer.

Llanbradach councillor Colin Mann added: “It is great that the young children have a safe space close to their homes, where they can enjoy themselves. We are very pleased that the play scheme has now
been completed and is in use.”

A memorial bench has also been installed in Pwllypant in tribute to late Adrian Stone
