A handcrafted jewellery and accessories pop-up shop will be trading at Ffos Caerffili over the coming weeks.

Karen L’s Creation will open at Caerphilly’s new container-style market on Friday July 19, and will be open until Sunday August 18.

Start-up business hub Welsh ICE, which is based on Caerphilly Business Park, has a unit at Ffos Caerffili, which it will be offering to local traders on flexible 28-day leases. The idea is to provide a stepping stone for businesses, allowing them to gauge market demand.

Karen L’s Creation will be the second pop-up shop to operate out of Welsh ICE’s unit at the market, with Bishop, Please! being the first.

The business is run by crafter Karen Lam, who said: “I have been crafting for a while and have participated in many craft markets already.

“I am very excited to join Welsh ICE as it will be my first time to present my craft work in a physical shop. I am very thankful to Welsh ICE for this opportunity and all the help they provided.”

Karen will be selling a range of jewellery and fashion accessories from the stall, including pressed-flower resin jewellery and children’s accessories, such as glow-in-the-dark gummy bears and Lego keyrings.

It will be open between 10.30am and 4pm from Tuesdays to Sundays.

Rachel Harris, chief creative officer at Welsh ICE, welcomed Karen to the space and said: “Karen’s passion for crafting and her unique designs are a perfect fit for our community.

“Our first pop-up shop tenant, Bishop, Please!, saw great success, and we are excited to continue providing opportunities for local businesses to test trade and grow.

“This initiative is crucial for fostering entrepreneurship and supporting the vibrancy of our town centre.”

Traders interested in participating in the Welsh ICE pop-up shop initiative can contact Georgia Roberts at georgia@welshice.org or visit welshice.org/popup for more information.
